The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disbanded its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), which was established last year to oversee the presidential election in 2023.
The dissolution was announced in a statement issued Saturday night by the APC PCC’s Director General, Governor Simon Bako Lalong, and the council’s Secretary, James Abiodun Faleke.
On behalf of the chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, President Muhammadu Buhari; the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, and other leaders, the party thanked all council members, leaders, and supporters for their tireless efforts in ensuring Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s resounding victory.
“Since the campaign council’s inception in September 2022, we have seen an unprecedented, relentless, and engaging mobilization of our members nationwide and in the diaspora in support of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential ticket.” With our hard-won win, the road has been worthwhile. All of our members, especially the leaders and members of the many campaign directorates, deserve credit.
“We would like to thank President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) for his unwavering support and leadership throughout the campaign.” We could not have reached this degree of accomplishment without his focus, dedication, and forthrightness.
“However, we have concluded that dissolving our council with immediate effect is in the best interests of the campaign and its stakeholders.” This has become vital as we prepare for the inauguration of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration on May 29, 2023. The process of transitioning into a new period of Renewed Hope is underway, and all of our efforts and activities must reflect the fundamental principles of this process.
“We hope you will continue to participate in Nigeria’s political process and advocate for issues that you believe in.” When we all participate in the political process with patriotism, our democracy grows stronger.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your support, dedication, and hard work”, the statement said in part.
