The Lagos State Ministry of Education has extended the payment and registration deadline for the Year 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to April 28.
This is stated in a statement sent to the media on Thursday in Lagos by Mr Orunsolu Adebayo, Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board.
“The Examinations Board wishes to inform Public Junior Secondary Schools, approved Private Junior Secondary Schools, and Special Schools that the payment and registration deadline for the Year 2023 BECE, which was previously set for April 14, has been extended to April 28 2023,” Adebayo added.
According to the statement, the extension became necessary due to the difficulties experienced by schools as a result of the network problem, as well as the current economic realities.
“Other issues include the Central Bank’s cashless policy, which made the processes difficult for most schools, and epileptic Network Services, which led to the decision.”
Adebayo went on to say that the extension allows most approved private and special schools in the state that have yet to register their candidates to do so.
The Board, according to the Director, does not want to deny any school or its candidates the opportunity to take the examination.
“To that end, the Examinations Board implores all affected schools to take advantage of this opportunity, as excuses will not be accepted after the new date expires,” he added.
