Police have arrested three lawyers who are allegedly submitting processes for the All Progressives Congress at the Port Harcourt election petition tribunal.

The lawyers are said to be preparing petitions to challenge the results of the recently concluded governorship election in Rivers State announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

They were allegedly apprehended on Friday night at a hotel in Port Harcourt. The reason for their arrest is still unknown.

The lawyers work for Senior Advocate of Nigeria Tuduru Ede’s Chamber.

Darlington Nwauju, the State APC Publicity Secretary, verified the incident to our correspondent on Saturday afternoon.

“That is correct. They were arrested last night. “We will brief the press,” Nwauju said.

Attempts to contact the state Police Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, were futile because her phone was not reachable at the time of writing this report.
