Federal Government announces date for completion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Opening of Niger Bridge

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway road project, according to Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola, will be finished this month, while the Second Niger Bridge will be commissioned and open to traffic in May.

According to Blessing Lere-Adams, Director of Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, the minister spoke during the pre-inspection of the Loko-Oweto Bridge in Nasarawa State.

“While commenting on the Lagos-Ibadan road, the minister urged all road users to be patient and understanding as traffic had to be diverted during construction, noting that the road is one of the busiest in the country.”

“As planned, the Lagos-Ibadan road would be completed in April 2023.” In addition, he stated that the 2nd Niger Bridge would be commissioned and available to traffic in May 2023,” according to the statement.

Fashola went on to say that the “Loko-Oweto Bridge is 200 meters longer than the second Niger Bridge; how many African countries can do this?” Nigerians should be extremely pleased of this initiative.”

The minister stated that the Loko-Oweto Bridge, which spans the Benue River and connects the north and south, “will reduce travel time, travel cost, and greatly enhance the ease of doing business.”
