According to the Lagos State Government, rehabilitation work on the Third Mainland Bridge will begin on Sunday (tomorrow) to repair marked failed/peeled asphaltic sections.

The rehabilitation will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the state Commissioner for Transportation, said in a statement on Saturday that traffic would be diverted during the rehabilitation.

He stated that the project would be carried out by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, explaining that traffic would be diverted from one lane to another at the identified failed asphaltic sections on the bridge.

He added that this was necessary to alleviate tailbacks on the bridge during peak times caused by the failed sections.

Oladeinde promised Lagosians that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be “fully” present on the ground to manage traffic in order to alleviate the inconveniences.
