The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), chaired by the Honorable Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON, approved the elevation of 87 legal practitioners to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) during its 164th Plenary session held on August 1, 2024.
The prestigious rank of SAN is awarded to legal professionals who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics, signifying excellence in the field.
The LPPC also reviewed five petitions against some of the applicants but found each petition to be without merit and subsequently dismissed them.
The swearing-in ceremony for the 87 successful applicants is scheduled for Monday, September 30, 2024.
The list of new awardees includes 86 advocate appointees, listed by seniority at the bar, and one academic appointee, Prof. Ganiu Oke Adeyemi.
Notable names among the advocate appointees include Lateef Olaseinde Karim, Esq., Godwin Tagbo Ike, Esq., Johnson Odionu, Esq., Nnodim Marcellinus Duru, Esq., Innocent Adams Ovbagbedia, Esq., and Soronnadi Anthony Njoku, Esq.
