One dead and 25 people rescued, in banana building collapse

One body was recovered from the wreckage of the collapsed building on 1st Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi, and 25 people were rescued.

Workers from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) discovered the remains of an adult male who had previously gone missing, according to site supervisors.

According to Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, excavation of the site using the architectural plans is still ongoing.

“The site has been divided into quadrants to facilitate a meticulous search and rescue operation.” The search operation has concluded, and quadrants 2 and 3 have been leveled to ground zero. Quadrant 4 is still active.

“When the building collapsed on Wednesday, twenty-five people were rescued.” They’re all doing well.

“When the site supervisors called a roll call, everyone was present. Nobody knew whether the victim, whose body was discovered this morning, was on the scene at the time the roll call was taken,” the statement said.
