Seun Okinbaloye, a Channels Television presenter, has responded to the N5 million fine imposed on the television network by the National Broadcasting Commission.

In response to the N5 million fine, he stated that “the media will not be silenced because Nigeria belongs to everyone.”

Recall that the NBC fined the TV channels in response to a petition by the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, following Okinbaloye’s interview with the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, on March 22 in which the VP on TV kicked against Tinubu’s inauguration as president on May 29.

During his appearance on the program, Baba-Ahmed urged President Buhari and the Chief Justice of Nigeria not to swear in Tinubu, claiming that declaring Tinubu the winner and issuing him a certificate of return was a violation of the constitution.

Tinubu accused the Labour Party’s vice presidential nominee of making several inciting remarks during the interview in a petition signed by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, and also noted that Okinbaloye failed to act professionally by stopping the politician from making such comments.
