The federal government has declared Monday, May 1, as a national holiday to commemorate Workers Day this year.

Rauf Aregbesola, the Interior Minister, stated this in a statement on Friday.

Mr Aregbesola stated that the holiday is in honor of workers’ contributions to nation building.

“There is dignity in labor; we must be dedicated and committed to the work we do because it is critical to nation-building,” the minister stated.

He urged workers to adopt a productivity culture, adding, “The end of work is productivity.” Productivity is what leads to satisfactory provision of products and services and the generation of wealth. As a result, it is the way to national and individual wealth.”

The minister advised workers to raise the level of their trade in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s drive to enhance the vehicle of government and ensure that all Nigerians enjoy the most from the country.

Mr Aregbesola also congratulated all security services for their successes in combating lawbreakers across the country, encouraging them not to back down but to put an end to illegal activities in the country whenever they occur.
