39 passengers perish in car accidents in Niger, Bauchi, and Kebbi.

On Monday, a deadly motor accident on the Bida-Mokwa Road in Niger State claimed the lives of no less than 24 people.

This occurred as tragedy struck on Monday, when a car accident in the Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State claimed the lives of four people.

Mr. Kumar Tsukwan, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Niger State, confirmed the event to journalists yesterday in Minna and claimed his troops arrived on the scene eight minutes after learning of the accident.

“The truck was transporting 84 persons and products, and there was just one mishap,” he claimed. Seven children, six women, and 74 men made up the victims. Ten people survived without any injuries, while 45 people — including 39 men, three women, and three children — suffered injuries.

He stated that the bodies of the deceased were also placed at the Kutigi hospital morgue while the victims were promptly taken to the general hospital Kutigi for rapid medical assistance.

Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi, Sector Commander, FRSC, in Bauchi State, said five additional people suffered significant injuries in the incident. The sole incident, according to him, featured a green commercial Ford Galaxy with nine passengers inside.

He said: “Nine persons were involved in the crash and they were eight male adults and one female adult. Four male adults lost their lives on the spot, while five others, four male adults and one female adult sustained injuries.”

According to Abdullahi, the crash happened around 10.30 a.m. and was caused by a ruptured tire and a loss of control. He claimed that the corps arrived at the collision site and cleared the area in in under 15 minutes.

The sector commander reported that the General Hospital, Dass received both the bodies of the killed and the injured for identification and treatment.

When driving on the roadways, he reminded drivers to always be aware of the norms and regulations governing traffic.
