At Kigumo village, Embu County, Kenya, a 14-year-old student at Kiriari Primary School committed suicide after being told to go home to pay his remaining school fees.

The youngster came home from school to find his mother caring for his siblings, the area assistant chief Nelson Muturi told The Star media on Tuesday.

He left the house after speaking briefly with his mother, and as she was getting ready to accompany him back to school, she found him hanging from the roof.

Reverend Robert Nyaga, the community elder, described the lad as an obedient youngster who made an uncommon choice.

In the midst of the investigation, Mwenda’s body was transferred to the mortuary.
