The Indegenes of Aboh Kingdom has rejected Dr Greg Oputa as Obi of the kingdom.
In a communique signed by Chief Ogwu Eneb Eli (Ukorokpala of Oduah), Chief Ndupum Major, Secretary of, Aboh Traditional Council, Senior Comrade Chilly Opene, Secretary to the Oduah, said the selection process was mar with intimidation and outright abuse o powers by the the police.
The communique reads: “At about 600pm on the 11th day of September, 2024, we got information of the large presence of heavily armed policemen in Aboh.
“While efforts were still being made to know their their mission, a video surfaced in the Aboh Unification Platform showing showcasing how the Oduah was highly humiliated and intimidated to chalk Dr Greg Oputa, one of the aspirants to the Obiship position at gunpoint”.
“This occurred in the presence of heavily armed policemen and disgruntled chiefs and persons in spite of court injunction prior to the day.”
“According to Mr Chinedu Ugboaku Agha, son of the Oduah who witnessed the incident, Charles Ogbuotobo (aka) Big Charlie led Dr Greg Oputa, who is one of the aspirants, High Chief Esumei Olisa (Ndanike), Prince Mike Oputa, High Chief Kenneth Odili, (Ozaeh), his brother, Ikechukwu Odili, Chief Chukaobi (Izomo), Chief Ifeanyi Boknor (Ojingu), Comrade Lucky Onyia, the DPO, Aboh and other policemen forced their way to the inner room of where the Oduah was lying down while several other police officers surrounded the building.
“However, it was Chief Chuka Obi (Izomo) who, at gunpoint raised Oduah from the bed and used his hands to chalk Dr Greg Oputa while others looked on.
“We of the Oduah Court distance ourselves from this shameful and abominable act which is against Aboh custom.
“We implore Aboh Indegenes to remain calm and go about their business as Oduah has not chalked any aspirant and those responsible for the irresponsible and show of shame that have dragged the name of the ancient kingdom to the mud and ridicule will definitely face justice.
