After days in the alternating custody of at least two of the nation’s security agencies, the Founder of Chudemedia, Mr. Chude Nnamdi, has been released by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
A well-known Twitter user, Nnamdi had been arrested on March 18, 2023, during the Governorship Elections segment of the just-concluded General Elections on suspicion of alleged cybercrime and has since been released on bond.
The Department of State Services (DSS) reportedly picked him up in Anambra State, South-East Nigeria, that fateful Saturday before transporting him to Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Instructively, Anambra State leads the pack of the six states that the respective governorship elections are offseason, and unaligned with those of the other 28 states that follow the nation’s regular four-year General Elections cycle.
In the wake of his arrest by Nigeria’s secret police, Nnamdi’s whereabouts had been shrouded in mystery.
Nnamdi, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), was reportedly discovered at a cell of the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) in Abuja, according to the Publisher of Sahara Reporters and outspoken Nigerian politician Omoyele Sowore.
On Twitter, Nnamdi’s friends and fans joyfully announced his release.
Twitter user @FS Yusuf tweeted, “Chude is OUT!!!!!”
Investigative reporter @DavidHundeyin tweeted, “Welcome home champ! @chude_”
@VictorIsrael posted: “In the streets of Abuja, raising our voices to encourage Chude’s release! Release Chude or we’re all in trouble.”
Nnamdi, the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congres (AAC), was reportedly discovered at the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) cell in Abuja, according to the Publisher of Sahara Reporters and outspoken Nigerian politician Omoyele Sowore.
Sowore tweeted: “#FreeChude: We searched across departments and units of @PoliceNG today in Abuja for @chude__ Chude Nnamdi. He was finally located at the Abuja FCIID cell. I also spoke with his case officers from the @INTERPOL Abuja Cybercrime unit. It’s encouraging to see @chude__ in such a pleasant frame of mind. His attorneys have completed the necessary papers, and he is anticipated to be freed from @PoliceNG detention today. The typical suspects are participating at all levels in this high-profile plot to quiet the young man. #Revolutionnow.”
