First Bank of Nigeria Ltd. has declared that its subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and Sub-Saharan Africa will alter their names gradually.

Mrs Folake Ani-Mumuney, Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications at FirstBank, made the announcement in a statement issued in Lagos.

According to the statement, the name change was done to align the subsidiaries with the parent brand and to benefit from FirstBank Nigeria’s rich heritage and brand equity created through its 129 years of banking leadership.

FBNBank UK, FBNBank Sierra Leone, FBNBank Gambia, and FBNBank DRC were the first subsidiaries to benefit from the name alignment.

The subsidiaries are now known and addressed as FirstBank UK, FirstBank Sierra Leone, FirstBank Gambia, and FirstBank DRC, according to the announcement.

It stated that the Ghana, Senegal, and Guinea subsidiaries would be the next to undergo the gradual name change.
