Gunmen Kill Ex-Customs Officer, Abduct Son

Suspected kidnappers reportedly shot dead a retired officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Micah Gochin, grabbed his son and fled the scene in Jos, the Plateau State capital, North-Central Nigeria.

The Sunday night incident had occured in the Bauchi Ring Road Community, near the University of Jos Senior Staff Quarters in the Jos North Local Government Area.

Madaki Joseph, a resident of the town, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN): “The gunmen came to the community around 11 p.m. on Sunday night.

“They rushed directly to the retired officer’s house and shot him dead while attempting to kidnap him. They did not, however, murder his son because they took him with them.

“When security men were alerted, they later arrived at the community, but the kidnappers had fled before they arrived.”

When reached, a spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, confirmed the event.

He stated that the command was attempting to locate and apprehend the hoodlums.
