Catriona Laing, the outgoing British High Commissioner in Nigeria, expressed regret at leaving the country after spending “a fabulous time” interacting with its music, dance, and culture.

Laing, on the other hand, stated that she would return to the nation after serving as the British envoy for four and a half years.

“I’m sorry to be leaving Nigeria; it’s a lot of fun; I had a great time here, and I’ll be back.” “I love the dance, the music, the culture,” she told President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on Wednesday during a farewell visit to the State House in Abuja.

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, made the announcement in a statement dated on Wednesday.

“It’s been great to experience Nigeria,” Laing said. I’ve visited over 20 states and have instructed my replacement to do the same. I’ll return and continue to roam.”

She congratulated Buhari on his eight years in office, saying he had done an excellent job of keeping the nation together.

The President, for his part, stated that the United Kingdom was a second home for many Nigerians and that ties between the two countries would continue to strengthen.

“In fact, some wealthy Nigerians do not feel complete until they have a home in the United Kingdom,” he adds.

Buhari expressed his desire to retire in Daura, Katsina State, after taking office on May 29, saying, “I’ll be as far away from Abuja as possible.”

He praised the United Kingdom for its cooperation on numerous fronts, especially in the reconstruction of the North East.
