Kogi election: Ahmed ododo emerges as APC governorship candidate

Ahmed Usman Ododo, the former Auditor General for Local Governments in Kogi State, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary poll held in the state on Friday.

Ododo, who received 78,704 votes in total, easily won the governorship direct primary election, defeating six other candidates.

On the night of the primary election, about seven additional contestants, including the state’s deputy governor, Edward Onoja, and Governor Yahaya Bello’s Chief of Staff, Pharm. Mohammed Asuku, had resigned from the gubernatorial run.

Ododo defeated the Barr, another Egbira man. Mohammed Ozigi Salami received 1,506 votes, while Smart Adeyemi, Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, received 311 votes.

Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, secretary of the Kogi State APC Primary Election Committee, released the results and declared Mr. Ahmed Usman Ododo the winner of the gubernatorial primary election on behalf of the panel’s chairman, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.
