Idi Hong, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation facility in Adamawa, has sought the arrest of Hudu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner.
Hong took the decision after Ari declared Senator Aisha Dahiru, also known as Binani, the winner of the 2023 gubernatorial election.
“The REC must be arrested for causing unnecessary controversy.” “He lacks the authority to do so,” Hong stated.
When the REC made the announcement, results were expected from 10 of the 20 Local Government Areas where the election was place.
The returning officer, Professor Mohammed Mele, had previously deferred the collation till 11 a.m.
However, the REC made his way to the hall to deliver the announcement and then immediately left.
When the REC made the announcement that caused uncertainty, the returning officer was nowhere to be seen.
