According to Complete Sports, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has compensated the Super Eagles’ head coach $210,000 (approximately N156,400,000).

It is for three of the ten months’ pay that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, owes him.

Other national teams’ head coaches, such as the Super Falcons, U-23 Eagles, Flying Eagles, Falconets, Golden Eaglets, and Flamingos, were given between five and seven months’ salaries.

Prior to this recent payment, Peseiro had not been paid a salary since the NFF’s Amaju Pinnick-led Executive Board hired him in May 2022. The Portuguese were hired after the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare, promised that the Federal Government would select a foreign coach after the Austin Eguavoen-led technical team failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, President of the NFF, confirmed to Completesports.com that some outstanding salaries to national team coaches had been paid using money from the NFF’s affiliate foreign bodies.

Gusau refuted an online newspaper report that Peseiro’s salary had not been paid because the NFF insisted on the salary first being put into the NFF’s account before the coach could be paid.

“There is no truth in that publication because the sports ministry never asked the NFF for Peseiro’s bank account information.” Why are we going to do this? “The coach is aware of the true situation, which contradicts the report,” Gusau said.

“When I took over as President of the NFF, I demanded to see Peseiro’s contract and the Federal Government’s approval to pay the coach’s salary.” But, much to my chagrin, there was no consent. I was led to believe that the consent was only verbal.

“This also surprised the Sports Minister, who had asked us to write for approval, which we had done since last year.” We are still expecting for the Super Eagles’ coach’s salary to be approved and paid.
