Following agitations by the critical stakeholders of Aboh Kingdom over the self imposition of Dr Greg Oputa as the Obi of Aboh, the Delta State Government has summoned a meeting with the aggrieved community for Monday 23 September 2024.
In a letter from the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, the meeting will take place at the Office of Special Adviser to the Governor on Building and Conflict Resolution situated at 1st Floor, Olorogun Felix Ibru Secretariat Annex, Asaba, Delta State by 10am.
The invitation letter was signed by Mr Ronnie Egun on behalf of the Special Adviser to the Governor.
It would be recalled that the stakeholders had protested against alleged self imposition of Dr Greg Oputa as the king-elect of Aboh Kingdom in a midnight at gunpoint.
They said four ruling houses of Aboh Kingdom had secured an injunction against the selection of a new Obi of Aboh Kingdom.
Despite the injunction, Dr Greg Oputa went ahead to connived with policemen and held the kingdom to ransom and consequently pronounced Dr Greg Oputa as the new Obi of Aboh Kingdom.
This, they said is a flagrant disobedient to the custom and tradition of the peaceful kingdom.
During the protest, the Delta State Deputy Governor insisted that due process must be followed in the selection of the Obi of Aboh.
The outcome of the meeting will facilUitate peaceful selection of the new Obi of Aboh Kingdom.
