The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s highest decision-making body, the National Executive Council (NEC), is scheduled to meet “as soon as it is feasible” to discuss issues raised by the recent turn of events.

After its presidential primary in May, which delivered former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its candidate, the PDP has been in turmoil.

Its National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, stood down on Tuesday after intense pressure from top party figures headed by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

However, when asked about the party’s crisis, Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi told Punch, “A NEC meeting will be held as soon as it becomes feasible.” It’s in the process, but we haven’t set a date yet.”
