Police from Zone 7 in Abuja stormed Jikwoyi and Orozo in the Karu axis of the FCT Area, apprehending three alleged ritualists operating a bogus church and shrine.

According to the police, the operation on Wednesday was based on intelligence acquired and led by a team of detectives. They apprehended three suspects, Uluko Adukwu, 28, Salisu Aduh, 38, and Adams Halilu, 24, as well as two minor boys, aged 11 and 13, who were alleged to be their victims and were all residents of Abuja and Kogi State.

The accused have confessed to utilizing charms to scam people, especially giving charms to cyber criminals, and internet fraudsters, aka Yahoo Plus, according to a statement published on Thursday by Zone 7 Abuja spokesperson, SP Istifanus Sunday Bako.

According to SP Bako, the ritualists also utilize charm on their victims, which sometimes results in their death.

“Three empty caskets, one Toyota Prado Jeep, one Lexus 330 Car, and fifteen mobile phones were recovered from the suspects during the operation; some clothing and women’s underwear believed to have belonged to the dead victims were also found at the scene of the crime,” the rest of the statement read.

“The Zone 7 AIG, Kayode Egbetokun (now DIG Kayode Egbetokun), encourages worshippers to be cautious where they worship and to report suspicious activities to the police, as he busted the ritualist’s gang on his last day in office.”
