Former students under the auspices of the Forum of Nigeria Polytechnics Alumni Association, which bemoaned the HND/BSc dichotomy, said the president’s approval to the Act will calm frazzled nerves and renew aspirations for millions of polytechnic graduates in the country.

The FONPAA Chairman, Mr Obialor Ibebulke, and Secretary, Mr Goke Ishola, also urged the Federal Government to elevate Nigerian polytechnics to degree-awarding institutions as a matter of need. Sign varsity, poly dichotomy bill, students push Buhari

“Ibebulke and Ishola, along with other executive members, who stated in a communiqué at the end of a two-day Executive Committee meeting held at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, also criticized the low funding of Nigeria’s polytechnics.”

They asked governments for help “increased funding for Nigerian polytechnics to further aid their academics and improve their overall sundry research works.”

The forum also extended their invitation “for the establishment of the Nigeria Polytechnic Commission, a body which will solely be for the administration of polytechnics, like the National Universities Commission.”
