“We understand your frustration and anger as a squad.” It was insufficient. “We know words aren’t enough in situations like this, but believe us when we say that a defeat like this hurts,” the team stated in a statement.
“We appreciate your support, both at home and away, and with that in mind, we would like to reimburse fans for the cost of their match tickets from St James’ Park,” it continued.
