Twitter’s blue tick removal tsunami has affected the verification badges of Peter Obi, Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and others.

Late Thursday, checks on the Twitter handles of the Labour Party, the All Progressives Congress, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidates revealed that the blue tick had vanished.

Elon Musk, who has watched his $44 billion investment in the site dwindle, previously committed to end what he called a “lords & peasants system.”

Earlier deadlines for the removal of the ticks — which were primarily used by celebrities, journalists, and politicians — have passed with little notice.

However, high-profile accounts, as well as those of numerous reporters and journalists, appeared to have had the checkmarks deleted on Thursday.

Politicians and official entities looked to have been touched as well, with US Senator Brian Schatz raising concerns about the potential impact on public confidence in the event of a crisis.
