Ven. Oluitan and his wife’s 20-year barrenness has ended with the birth of a baby daughter

God never arrives too late!
Ven. Dr Joshua Bolarinwa Oluitan, an Anglican Church priest living in Okitipupa, Ondo State, was born in Ifewara, Osun State, and this is a season of tears, not weeping.

Oluitan, an Archdeacon and Vicar in charge of Saint Paul’s Anglican Church in Okitipupa, serves God with zeal despite a two-decade-long difficulty. He holds a doctorate from the University of Ibadan.

20 years after his marriage to former Miss Mary Olufunke Aboderin, also from Ifewara, God finally came through with a bundle of joy for the family, a bouncing baby girl, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

Ven Oluitan is 52 years old, and his wife is 50. What a wonderful miracle! Mr Ayo Arowojolu, a media professional from back home, attests to the blessed couple’s unwavering service in the Vineyard of God: “I have known both of them since like 15 years now. You will never notice any sorrow or downcast mood around them as they keep serving the Lord joyfully without looking back. Ven Oluitan and his wife are good role models to countless other people who have found themselves in this harrowing situation. But God is a rewarder of those who diligently wait for Him to act”.

I definitely can’t describe how I managed to live with being childless after 20 years of marriage. When I look back, I realize it was always God. God is a Soother. As humans, no matter how spiritual we are, there were moments when I would think aloud, “God, I have dedicated people’s children and yet I cannot even have my own child.” I have dedicated several children since we married. But, when those kinds of valley thoughts arise, I swiftly turn to Zechariah and Elizabeth for inspiration. They were also in the ministry and faced additional obstacles. They were also in the ministry and faced additional obstacles. They were both God’s children who worked hard for the Lord. They were, however, childless through no fault of their own. I think about how many years they were infertile and especially how old they were when the Lord finally answered them.

I’ve been motivated by the narrative of Zechariah and Elizabeth. But every now and then, the question arises as to why some morally bankrupt women become pregnant soon after marriage.

I recall my father telling me before our marriage that I should make sure my future bride was pregnant before we married, but I swiftly responded: “that cannot happen. Not even possible at all. Me that I am a priest? I told my dad who is now late frankly the same words that came out from the mouth of Joseph…I cannot do this wickedness and sin against God. It is good to have the fear of God rather than relying on human wisdom.

For me and my wife, this has always been our consolation. The scriptures say no one shall be barren in my house. This scripture I always claim it because in the first place, I am a child of God and secondly, I am a servant of God and thirdly, I serve in his house as a priest.  So, God as a sovereign Lord is a rewarder. I have always believed I will never die childless. So, I believe that I will have children one day just that I don’t know when. They will come. And this current season, the Lord has done it. Glory be to God. It was in August last year when we went for a test at the medical laboratory and she tested positive. My wife became pregnant for the first time in 19 years.

What is more essential to me is to always do God’s will and obey God. I am aware that in this day and age, people seek the simplest solution. Yet it’s wonderful to see the fruit of complete faith in God. What I prefer is to completely rely on God for a perfect outcome. Recall what the Bible says: “Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength.” God cannot be compared to technology, and technology is not without flaws. It fails frequently, but God cannot fail.

On the subject of modern technology. One thing I believe many people lack is the ability to directly access revelation from God for their own situation. Everyone participates. There have been occasions where people have spent millions of naira with no outcomes.
