Governnor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has mandated the VOICE of Nigeria Agency which is the Federal Government of Nigeria’s arm of information dissemination about the program and activities of Government to the outside world to always come to participate in the coverage of annual flagship of tourism festival and the Calabar Carnival which brings tourist from different countries of the world.
This assertion was made in Calabar when the Director General of Voice of Nigeria Agency paid a courtesy call on the Governnor in Calabar last week end as part of his familiarization tour of the Agency’s Presence and also ensure renwed partnership in efforts to tell Nigerians story to the outside world positively not on negative stance.
Governnor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu who was out of town state for official engagement but his Deputy Governor, RT HON. Peter Odey represented him expressed gratitude to the VON DG, Malam Ndace for his visit to Calabar and described him as a “true and thorough bred professional” bless with a wealth of experience to reposition the Voice of Nigeria Agency globally.
RT. HON. Odey used the opportunity of the VON DG’s visit to enumerate the measures taken by the Government of Governnor Senator, Prince Bassey Edet Otu administration to re-establish Cross River State as the preferred tourism destination in Nigeria while pledging to collaborate with the Agency to support the initiatives that would be for the benefits of the people.
He also plead with the VON DG’s to ensure that the office of state Commissioner for Information of the state will be in the partnership deal to publicise all the activities of the state to the outside world.
Speaking earlier, the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace appeal to the Governnor to intensify collaboration with the VON for wider dissemination of the prammes and projects of the state in efforts to reposition it as a tourism hub.
The Agency new boss explained that the Federal Media outfit was more positioned to tell Nigeria’s story and that of Africa to the outside world better than any other media platforms in African countries.
He also declared that the “VON has a unique role with a mandate to tell not only the story of Nigeria but the story of Africa as a whole, and we do this in four Nigerians languages of Hausa, Yoruba, Igbos are Fulani while the International languages is Engish, French, Arabic and Swahili respectively .
The DG use the opportunity to observe and Commended the cordial relationship between the Governnor and his Deputy, RT HON Peter Odey and attributes this facts to their background in conflict resolution and interpersonal relationship while offering the VON platform to the state government for publication of the numerous developmental programs instituted for the benefits of citizens of Nigeria.
