According to authorities, an 11-year-old boy is accused of being involved in the death of a 10-year-old girl at a children’s care home in Germany.

On Tuesday, the girl was discovered dead in her room at a child and adolescent welfare center in Wunsiedel, Bavaria, Germany.

Local police and prosecutors stated in a joint statement that evidence acquired at the crime site “indicates the involvement of an 11-year-old kid” staying at the same facility.

‘Since the 11-year-old boy is below the age of criminal responsibility, he has been placed in a secure facility as a preventive measure.’

It is yet unknown how the girl died, while a police official informed German media that she died “violently.”

The case comes as Germany is still mourning from the death of 12-year-old Luise Frisch, who was discovered dead last month in the western town of Freudenberg after suffering several stab wounds.

Two 12- and 13-year-old schoolgirls have confessed to the murder.

Police and prosecutors declined to comment further on the Wunsiedel case, stating that the youngster had not yet been questioned.

They also stated that they were closely cooperating with local youth authorities.

Joachim Herrmann, the regional interior minister of Bavaria, complimented the detectives for identifying a suspect so soon.

‘It is thanks to the meticulous and highly committed investigations that a person involved in the crime could be identified in a comparatively short time.

‘What’s important now is to clarify the exact circumstances of this tragedy,’ he said.

The child and adolescent welfare center in the small town of Wunsiedel, which serves roughly 90 children and teenagers, expressed “deep shock” at the girl’s death.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the parents, the family, our children and our colleagues,’ it said in a statement.

On its website, the institute describes itself as supporting ‘young people and their families who need help with their upbringing’.

The investigation into the girl’s death will continue unabated during the Easter holiday, according to a police spokesman on Friday.

Luise Frisch, 12, was found dead after going missing after a play date in Freudenberg, near Cologne, less than a month ago.

Her assailants, Luisa Halberstadt, 13, and Anna-Marie Hoffman, 12, stabbed her 32 times with a nail file before forcing her down a steep embankment in the surrounding woods.
