29 people were taken in a new attack by gunmen in the Kwali Area Council of the nation’s capital, Abuja.
Kidnappers have repeatedly targeted the city’s outskirts, although they also make frequent forays into Kubwa and Pyakasa, which are closer to the main city.
Bandits frequently target the Bwari, Kuje, Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Abani Area Councils, with the Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC also regularly attacked.
On Tuesday night, however, gunmen were claimed to have assaulted Yewuti village, the homeland of the immediate-past vice chairman of Kwali Area Council, Alhaji Zubairu Jibrin Yewuti, and taken 29 individuals, including men, housewives, and children.
Mrs Zainab Umar and Mrs Aisha Zubairu reportedly escaped their kidnappers while being dragged into the jungle.
“The victim claimed he was kidnapped by unidentified men and was robbed of his personal belongings before being released.”
“The man who claimed to have been kidnapped and robbed of his belongings before being released is reportedly not a Catholic priest or cleric,” according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Tochukwu stated that the inquiry is still ongoing because the command desires to state that the evidence acquired indicates that he is not a priest.
