Why North West should produce Nigeria’s 10th Senate President – APC Rescue Group

The ‘Rescue North West APC Group’ has petitioned the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee, its chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and other stakeholders to relinquish the Senate Presidency to the North West and give it to Senator Barau Jubrin.

According to the group, Jubrin, characterized as the zone’s most experienced lawmaker, has just been elected to the National Assembly as a Senator for the third time, having previously been elected as a representative, and hence deserves to be Nigeria’s 10th Senate President.

Muktar Dahiru-Gore, Co-ordinator, Rescue Group, justified its position on Thursday, saying the North West supplied the most votes “to help our ever resilient and politically savvy, President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu win the 2023 presidential election.”

“The North West zone contributed roughly 30% of the total number of votes cast, which helped both the President-elect and the APC win the election.”

People participate in politics around the world, according to the group, to take over the reins of government and use and make accessible resources for the greatest good of the largest number of people, rather than to meet and satisfy sectarian indulgences such as religion and ethnic considerations.

It stated that while religious faith seeks to provide a life beyond death, politics seeks to make life more plentiful while we are alive.

“It is therefore because there would be nothing on the table to share if we did not win an election that we drum up support for the North West, which contributes the most to the election of the to reap the benefits of what they have worked for.”

“Perhaps we still need to investigate the phenomenon of election victory in Nigeria.” Winning an election requires a significant investment of scarce resources and great work. So why should the dividend go to the person who spent less time and effort on non-political issues like religion”  the group added.

The Rescue Group is a coalition formed by broad-based political interest groups within the APC from the North West geo-political zone to canvass the zone’s interests inside the Nigerian political landscape.

Dahiru-Gore stated that the group met in Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, and Sokoto, and determined to deliver the number three job.
