The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that materials for Saturday’s re-run poll in Zamfara’s six local government areas have been issued.

Prof. Saidu Ahmad, the Residents Electoral Commissioner, made the announcement at a stakeholders meeting in Gusau on Thursday.

He stated that the poll was for the Zamfara Central Senatorial District and two House of Representatives seats for the Federal Constituencies of Gusau/Tsafe and Gummi/Bukkuyum.

The Senatorial election will be held in the local governments of Gusau, Maru, Bungudu, Gummi, Tsafe, and Bukkuyum, according to Ahmad.

According to the REC, the election will be held in 90 polling units across 24 registration areas in six local government regions.

He noted that the 90 voting units had a total of 95,332 registered voters, of which 90,900 received their Permanent Voters card.

Ahmad urged lawmakers and the media to encourage voters to turn out and vote on time, so that the process could be completed on time.

According to the REC, security services told the commission that they would provide the necessary security for voters to exercise their right to vote peacefully.
