The Federal Government has currently designated two days off as public holidays: Good Friday, April 7, and Easter Monday, April 10, 2023.
The proclamation was contained in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore, and read aloud by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Wednesday in Abuja.
In his statement, he went on to urge Christians to imitate Jesus Christ and His earthly mission by practicing sacrifice, unity, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience, even as they celebrate and pray for an end to the country’s challenges.
“Security is everyone’s concern,” he said. “As a result, I urge Nigerians and foreigners living in our country to demonstrate a strong sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security to the citizenry’s lives and property,” he said.
Finally, Aregbesola assured the people that the government will ensure a peaceful transition of power following the conduct of peaceful elections.
