Meet the leading contenders for APC’s Kogi gubernatorial ticket [FULL LIST]

The present administration in Kogi State, led by Alhaji Yahaya Bello, will end on January 27, 2024. This foreshadows the state’s upcoming governorship election, which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set for November 11.

However, prior to the election, political parties will organize primaries to choose their flag-bearers, with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) a leading possibility.

Aspiring APC candidates have been engaged in a high-stakes game of politicking and scheming, all with the goal of succeeding the outgoing governor on the party’s platform.

The results of their efforts are scheduled to be unveiled today (Friday), with one of the finalists being named the party’s flag bearer.

Until now, the Kogi State APC had evaluated 19 people who had showed interest in vying for the party’s ticket. Of these, 17 have been selected to contest in the primaries.

James Abiodun Faleke, who had already acquired the expression of interest form, withdrew from the contest for personal reasons. Faleke, the chairman of the House Committee on Finance and the secretary of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, returned the nomination form to the screening committee.

The following 17 candidates have been cleared to compete in the APC primaries:

1. Abdukareem Jamiu
2. Sanusi Ohiare
3. Ahmed Ododo
4. Salami Deedat
