Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has urged his fellow candidates in the just concluded March 18 Governorship Election to work with him to improve the state.
“The electioneering campaign is now over, and we must deal with the issue of governance,” Engineer Makinde said on a radio show on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capita, South-West Nigeria.
He said further: “This is our state and commonwealth, and we must ensure that we move our state forward.”
He declared that he regarded his election victory as a victory for the people of Oyo, assuring that he was willing to work with the ideas of his co-contestants wherever they were deemed to be superior to his.
According to him, everyone must now work together in the benefit of Oyo State.
He promised to reach out to more people through infrastructure development.
He further promised to continue delivering quality projects that would benefit all sectors of the state, emphasising that he would continue to build on the solid foundation established over the previous four years.
The Oyo Governor also stated that he would put the campaign issues into action and continue to fiercely develop the state as he has done since taking office in 2019.
Makinde thanked all citizens who supported him before, during, and after the election, including elder statesmen and women, merchants, labour unions, market groups, and religious bodies.
He further stated that in his second term, his administration would reach more places with infrastructure and touch a larger population in Oyo State.
He insisted that the recruitment of teachers and other non-teaching employees, as well as the construction of additional educational facilities, will be top priorities during his second term.
Makinde went on to say that the administration would rehire many of the people who had been fired as long as they were not involved in fraud.
The governor stated that the contract for the renovation of the Agbowo Shopping Complex, which is located opposite the main gate of the University of Ibadan, would be re-awarded to a contractor with the requisite capacity as soon as possible.
