The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has turned to faith, inviting a group of Christian pastors and faith leaders to the White House for a special prayer session inside the Oval Office.
Videos and images circulating online show several pastors surrounding the president, some placing their hands on him as they pray for wisdom, protection, and guidance as he navigates the ongoing conflict with Iran.
Margo Marti, Communications Advisor, posted a video of the Trump-hosted prayer session on X (formerly Twitter).
In the clip, the President is seen sitting at his designated desk at the Oval Office, surrounded by a group of pastors. Everyone around laid one of their hands on the president to impart blessings through the prayer.
A man leads the proceedings, as the other members nod and echo similar sentiments.
He utters, “I pray for your grace and your protection over him. I pray for your grace and your protection over our troops and all of our men and women serving in our armed forces.
“And father we just pray you continue to give our President the strength that he needs to lead our nation as we come back to one nation under God.”
The prayer meeting comes at a tense moment in global politics, as the United States and its allies remain locked in a widening military confrontation with Iran across the Middle East.
On February 28, the US and Israel teamed up for major airstrikes on Iran, hitting everything from nuclear facilities and ballistic missile sites to military bases, and Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.
Iran retaliated by firing missiles and drones at Israel and US military bases in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, among others.
The war escalates in March, as the US and Israel launch more strikes, pounding targets across Iran, with Iran firing back at spots in the Gulf and even hitting places like Lebanon.
This later forced the US to shut down embassies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Lebanon for safety.
The conflict has raised concerns about regional instability, attacks on military installations, and potential disruptions to global oil markets.
