Many passengers have been reportedly kidnapped as suspected bandits attacked vehicles travelling along the Kishi–Ibadan axis.

A commercial driver, whose colleague was among those affected, told Legit.ng that the incident occurred on Wednesday night, March 4, 2026.

“The vehicle operates along the Kishi–Ibadan route,” he said. “They attacked three vehicles and took about eight passengers away.”

Two other sources confirmed the attack. One resident disclosed that unusual security activity was observed in the area the following morning.

“I saw aircraft hovering around Kishi on Thursday morning. That is not something we normally see here. It was very unusual,” she said.

According to sources, local vigilante groups have since been mobilised and dispatched into nearby forests in a bid to rescue the abducted passengers.

Kishi, located in the northernmost part of Oyo State and the headquarters of Irepo Local Government Area, has reportedly been gripped by fear as residents await further developments.

However, when contacted, the Oyo State Police Command said it had no information about the latest attack.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, stated briefly: “I don’t have an update about that.”

As of the time of filing this report, neither the state government nor security agencies had issued an official statement.
