Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will meet in a long-awaited rematch of the highest-grossing fight in boxing history this September at Sphere in Las Vegas, with the event set to be broadcast live on Netflix on September 19.
The clash revives their blockbuster 2015 showdown, widely billed as the “Fight of the Century,” which generated a record 4.6 million pay-per-view buys and more than $600 million in revenue. Mayweather reportedly earned around $300 million from the unanimous decision victory over Pacquiao.
Now both in their late forties, the two boxing icons will renew their rivalry following Mayweather’s recent announcement that he is coming out of retirement.
Mayweather retired in 2017 with an unbeaten professional record of 50-0, though he has since participated in exhibition bouts.
Pacquiao stepped away from boxing in 2021 and launched an unsuccessful bid for the Philippine presidency before returning to the ring last year, fighting to a draw against Mario Barrios in Las Vegas.
Speculation about a rematch has persisted for years and intensified after Mayweather confirmed plans to return to professional competition.
The bout will mark the first professional boxing contest staged at Sphere, the state-of-the-art Las Vegas venue that opened in 2023 and is known for its immersive 160,000-square-foot wraparound interior screen.
In a joint statement, Pacquiao said: “Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history. The fans have waited long enough, they deserve this rematch.
“I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him. As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bringing glory to the Philippines.”
Mayweather responded: “I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result.”
