Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential candidate, has challenged his supporters, known as Obidients, to accept the attacks as a sacrifice for a new Nigeria.
Obi stated in a series of tweets on Monday that he and his running companion, Datti Baba-Ahmed, are hurt that their fans are being targeted because they chose to support them.
The claimed attempt to demarket the “Obidient movement” will fail, according to the former governor of Anambra.
“Datti and I are painfully aware that most of you have suffered vituperations, physical attacks, loss of rights and privileges, hateful trolls, indignities, and vexatious fighting words simply for being OBIdient,” he tweeted.
“Please bear such attacks as the sacrifices that we must all make in order to build a new Nigeria, where justice, equity, fairness, love, and prosperity will reign.”
“Please know that Datti and I are rooting for you, and that the unfortunate coordinated efforts to demarket and delegitimize the OBIdient Movement will fail.” We are well organized and have remained focused and committed in solving our country’s faults.
“While upholding our Constitution’s supremacy and the imperatives of the rule of law.” Do not give up, and do not allow yourself to be drawn into pointless fights. Be assured that our objective to free Nigeria from those engaged in state capture will be completed in due course.”
Obi stated that he and Baba-Ahmed are reclaiming their mission to create a “new Nigeria” by all legal and peaceful means.
“As a result, I continue to implore you to be law-abiding, respectful, and peaceful in all your actions and inactions,” he stated.
