The Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has congratulated Solomon Arase, the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), on his appointment as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission. (PSC).
The President swore in Arase on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa’s council room in Abuja, two months after the Senate confirmed him as chairperson of the PSC.
Obi stated in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle that Arase will contribute value to his new post, adding that the former police chief follows a string of credible Commission leaders.
The former Governor of Anambra State voiced confidence that he will excel in his new role.
“I congratulate former IGP Solomon Arase on his inauguration as Chairman of the Police Service Commission by HE President @MBuhari,” he posted.
“He brings added value to his new position as an experienced policeman and law enforcement officer who served in various commands and formations of the Nigerian Police Force before rising to the apex position of Inspector-General of Police.” He is the latest in a line of credible Commission officials.
“I am certain he will perform creditably in his new assignment. -PO”

Note that Arase served as the 18th indigenous Inspector-General of Police (IGP) from April 2015 to June 2016.
He worked in a variety of capacities, including as the head of the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, Nigeria’s premier intelligence-gathering unit.
