Adebayo Agboola, 27, a street brat accused of defiling a neighbor’s nine-month-old infant, was remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Center by Ikeja Chief Magistrate Mrs. E. Kubeinje on Tuesday.
Agboola, a resident of the Lagos neighborhood of Ijora-Bada (shanti), was accused of defilement, a crime that violated Section 137 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2015.
In court, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, the prosecution’s attorney, informed the jury that the offense was committed on March 23 at the White Sand area of Ijora-Bada, Lagos.
He said, “The baby’s mother, 16, kept her child in the care of Agboola to buy noodles not too far from her home.”
The prosecutor was instructed to transfer the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal counsel, nevertheless, by Chief Magistrate Kubeinje.
She also put the lawsuit on hold until May 5, 2023.
